Ms. Deborah Kinard

As the program and budget coordinator for the Center of Excellence for Educator Preparation and Innovation at Voorhees University, Ms. Deborah Kinard has the responsibility of coordinating the day-to-day management and operations of the office. She manages and maintains the EPI Center’s multi-million dollar budget. She effectively coordinates and oversees grant application and management processes including the identification of potential new funding sources, development of funding resources for existing and proposed programs and services, and writing grants. 

Her ties to Voorhees date back more than two decades. She was an assistant director of records at Voorhees College from 1993-1995. She would spend the next eight years as an administrative assistant for the Benedict College Upward Bound Program in Columbia, SC; four years as an administrative coordinator/bookkeeper for the Benedict TRIO Programs; two years as executive assistant to the vice president in the Division of Community Development and 12 years as an assistant director of the Upward Bound Program at Benedict.

Ms. Kinard earned two degrees from Webster University, a Master of Arts in human resources management and a Master of Science in finance. She also attended South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, S.C. where she earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science and graduated Cum Laude in 1990.
